Group Chief Data Office Governance Lead


As a Barclays Group CDO Governance Lead, you will ensure we have effective controls and governance around our Data Management and Records Policies and Standards. The role is integral to our governance processes and supports Group CDO with valuable insight and reporting on performance. The Chief Data Office is responsible for ensuring firm wide compliance with Barclays Data Management and Records Standards and provide group wide governance on the management and use of data.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances. What you’ll be doing?

  • Coordinating and preparing of high-quality materials (inputs and outputs) for various governance forums, suitable for exec level consumption
  • Owning the annual policy and standards refresh for CDO and ongoing activities related to Data Governance, ensuring adherence to timelines and regular communication
  • Facilitating discussions and workshops with stakeholders, to gain buy-in and lead key deliverables to support our change portfolio, policies, standards and ethical use of data
  • Building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts at various levels across a globally distributed organization
  • Identifying and implementing of continuous improvement and best practice across CDO, driving forward momentum and evolution of ways of working

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • Prior experience within a data role or similar control environment.
  • Project, governance or release experience.
  • Knowledge of data technology, change and support systems e.g. Jira, Confluence or Tableau.
  • MS Office expert with exceptional PowerPoint presentation skills – able to distil complex messages or information into simple, easy-to-understand presentations.
