Job Introduction

The Corporate Systems team within the BBC Technology Group support the BBC’s core central functions which include Finance, Procurement, Treasury, HR, Resource Scheduling, Legal & Safety in order to deliver on both operational requirements and be an enabler for business transformation. To support these core functions, Corporate Systems is entering a period of significant change across its SAP and non-SAP estate across the BBC group to ensure that we are able to support the BBC deliver on its ambitions to enable simplicity, realise efficiencies and provide a fit for purpose back office managed by in house and 3 rd party outsourced teams.

The purpose of this role is to ensure a coherent technical strategy and architecture is maintained and implemented across the core BBC Corporate Systems space. The role will require detailed technical architecture knowledge, delivery leadership experience, system expertise and technical governance, to ensure dependencies and relationships between all associated systems are understood, maintained and can be communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders

Role Responsibility

  • Maintain an overarching understanding of the complex Corporate Systems SAP and non-SAP technology landscape and identify service composition challenges and opportunities.
  • Lead, develop and maintain architectural roadmaps and strategies within your area, and ensure alignment across products and platforms.
  • Work with the business, and technology analysis functions to assess and understand business needs and aspirations, and translate into technology impacts and opportunities.
  • Design adaptable, scalable solutions using SAP and non-SAP components that are fit-for-purpose and aligned with wider group technology strategy.
  • Guide and govern solution implementation, via internal and external delivery mechanisms.
  • Promote and ensure consistent use of shared platform components, technologies and integration approaches
  • Maintain a good understanding of SAP and wider industry/technology trends and innovations to both inform business opportunities, and influence internal and external partner roadmaps to support the business and IT change plans.

Provide technical consultancy to project delivery and development teams, procurement, service design and change management teams.

Are you the right candidate?

  • Knowledge of core IT technical architectures including:
    • Red Hat Linux 6 and above
    • Windows Server 2012 R2 and above
    • RDBM Systems (Oracle, MS SQL Server & Informix)
    • Hybrid Cloud Architectures
    • TCP/IP Networking, DNS and Firewall configuration
    • Encryption approaches and methods
  • Experience in integration of technical architecture technologies including:
    • SAP PI/PO
    • SAP BTP Integration and API Management
    • SSO integration using SAML or OIDC
  • Experience in SAP technical architecture including:
    • SAP NetWeaver ABAP and JAVA Based systems
    • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence
    • OpenText VIM for SAP
  • Experience in SAP Cloud architecture and applications including:
    • SAP Business Technology Platform Services
    • SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud and/or SAP RISE PCE
    • SAP SaaS Products including SuccessFactors, Ariba and Concur
    • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Ability to decompose complex systems in order to understand the underlying architecture and function groups
  • Strong understanding of designing and building scalable and robust systems, and managing throughout their lifecycle
  • A track record of designing and delivering solutions across a broad spectrum of project deliveries, involving mixes of internal, offshore and vendors.
  • Strong vendor management skills
  • Hands-on approach
  • Able to convey complex information across multiple audiences, including senior business, technology teams, peers, and vendors.
  • Experience in navigating, influencing and building long-term collaborative relationships with the complex and diverse array of people in large organisations, as well as relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of software licensing models
  • Authoritative knowledge of security policies and statutory requirements relevant to the role

Desirable Skills And Knowledge

  • Understanding of complex SAP and non-SAP landscapes
  • Knowledge and experience of SAP best practices and basis administration
  • Knowledge of ITIL standards and the principles of service support and delivery
  • Knowledge of Information security standards such as ISO/IEC 27000
  • Knowledge of Architecture Frameworks
  • Analytical problem-solving skills to aid in the determination of root cause
  • Knowledge of modern integration technology and approaches
  • Experience in implementing end to end Business System solutions
  • Experience within the SAP environment covering multiple implementations, projects or support instances in a Technical Lead role
  • Experience in assisting in budget planning for internal hardware/software and resourcing
  • Experience in the media sector or broadcast environment
