About the job

Job Introduction

Creativity is the lifeblood of our organisation. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that delivers ground-breaking content and reaches new audiences. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of an inspiring environment where creativity flourishes and the next big idea can come from anyone.

BBC Sport is at the heart of the world’s major sporting events, such as World Cups, Euros, the Olympics, Premier League football, the FA Cup, Wimbledon or The Hundred. Our teams make sure our audiences are served with world class coverage.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Content Producer to join our creative team and drive high-quality, high-impact video content that will services audiences across TV and Digital.

We want BBC Sport’s output to reflect and understand the audiences we serve – for example, the different geographical regions of the UK and the experience of people from underrepresented groups (eg people from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, people with lived experience of disability, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio economic groups). We are therefore actively seeking individuals with skills or experience that can help contribute towards ensuring we maximise the diversity of our coverage and content.

Role Responsibility

As the successful candidate, you will report to BBC Sport’s Creative Director, and you will inspire and organise teams, leading the production process from development to delivery.

We are looking for a talented creative leader with significant experience in broadcast video content. You’ll have outstanding creative credentials, as well as in-depth high end production experience. You will be a true creative leader, capable of inspiring a large team, with the determination to deliver projects to the highest standards.

As a great communicator, you’ll have experience in collaborating with internal and external partners. You will be someone with a strong strategic understanding and have the ability to translate key priorities into powerful creative solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward innovative proposals that connect with our audiences and ensure they are delivered as part of the BBC Sport’s Digital First strategy, across multiple platforms.

We are looking for someone who will be passionate about the BBC, understand our audiences, challenges and objectives, with a good understanding of the media landscape.

Are you the right candidate?

You will be a self-starter with a huge amount of initiative and a curiosity to learn more about our audience and a genuine desire to make impact.

The successful candidate will have a strong awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion across our output and workforce. You must have a genuine desire to shift the dial and make change, be fully embracing of an inclusive approach and eager to seek out new ways of reaching a diverse audience with relevant and relatable content.

This role requires a natural visionary who will drive inclusivity, listen to team members’ opinions and give everyone a voice. You will inspire the production team to think out of the box and encourage APs and Producers to deliver different and distinctive content.

The successful candidate must be a clear and calm communicator, and able to brief teams, while understanding the brief and expectation themselves from senior editorial leads.

You will have proven experience of delivering complex projects; experience of trouble-shooting key projects and managing teams and budgets. You must have the ability to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure and have excellent influencing and persuading skills.
