The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Community Development and Engagement Team Leader to work in our Public Health Team (within Health Improvement) aiming to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the Bradford District and help address health inequalities.

The post will provide line management support to Living Well Community Development and Engagement workers, including Apprentice posts, ensuring their role is embedded in wider Living Well programme. The post holder will support team to work and engage with the most vulnerable local people to tackle and reduce health inequalities at grass roots level. The post-holder will also be expected to work closely with members of the wider public health team, Community partnerships, Stronger Communities team, neighbourhoods team, voluntary sector partners and wider council colleagues to increase connectivity of the programme to local communities in Bradford District and Craven, and in doing so help to reduce health inequalities across the District.

The post-holder will work closely with other team leaders in the Living Well service to provide specialist support to the delivery of the Living Well Community Heath Development programme implementation and evaluation. You will need significant demonstrable specialist knowledge around community health development and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The post holder will be responsible for inspiring the team, motivating and be confident in managing a small team.
