Band 4: £18,887 – £19,264 pa £9.79 – £9.99 per hour. (FTE Pro rata for Part Time Posts)
6 x 20 hours per week
Temporary for six months
Based at various Libraries

The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requires that Councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.

The criteria under special knowledge and experience on the job profile which is shown in this advert outlines what level of fluency you will be expected to demonstrate. Therefore, it is essential that you provide examples in your application.

This is an opportunity to be part of a team providing excellent customer service.

The post involves a wide range of duties working in a public facing environment with a diverse range of customers, offering them a wide variety of services, events and activities.

Contracted hours covering a two week rota between 8.45 a.m. and 7 p.m. including Saturday and Sunday working. The post holders will also occasionally need to be able to work at other library locations within the Bradford district, often at short notice.

The post supports operational delivery of the service and the Universal Offers which include Reading, Health and Wellbeing, Digital and Information and Culture and creativity. There is also a Children’s promise and Six Steps to support children of all ages and abilities.
  • Delivering children’s, family, and adult activities, including story times and rhyme times
  • Supporting customers with computer use and learning needs.
  • Supporting customers to use the self-service kiosk.
  • Positively using electronic stock management tools.
  • Accessing the library management system and understanding the information security protocols of the Council.
  • Opening and locking up the building and operating the alarm system.
  • Supporting safety on site including fire evacuation procedures
  • One year’s previous experience of working in a customer facing environment.
