About the role

BT’s Mobile Innovations Labs provide our stakeholders with the best Mobile Telecoms Network Test Facility in the UK. It enables the development, testing and integration of world-class solutions, on the best in-class environments. You will support the development of Mobile Core Network components – helping our Testers, Designers and Operations to work together to make EE & BT’s fixed and mobile services the best in the UK. You will be building and supporting virtualised environments using the latest VMWare technologies and supporting a variety of operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to drive innovation in Software Defined Network (SDN) related technologies for delivering production Network Function Virtualization (NFV) services within BT.
  • You will be responsible for supporting next generation NFV service delivery platform based on cutting edge NFV, SDN technologies, cloud virtualization technologies, and cloud computing technologies that are revolutionizing telecom industries.
  • You will be an excellent team player, comfortable collaborating with both local and remote team members. You will be customer focussed – setting high standards and driving good practice across the team.
  • You will want to progress your own career – taking advantage of opportunities to evolve and expand both your own knowledge and capabilities and helping others around you.

Skills & Experience

You will have some technical skills and experience to provide 1st and 2nd line support in one or more of the following areas.

  • Linux – Oracle Linux /Ubuntu/SUSE/Redhat
  • Dell PowerEdge/HP Proliant/Cisco UCS Platforms
  • Cloud and Network Architectural understanding in areas of applications, virtualization, network and security with Software Defined Network(SDN)/Network Function Virtualization(NFV)
  • Kubernetes/OpenStack/Charms
  • Ansible
  • Windows Server Administration and deployment 2016/2019
  • Active Directory/WSUS/DNS/App-V
  • Citrix XenApp/vApps
  • Virtualization – VMWARE ESXI 6.7 and 7.0, Vcenter 6.7, 7.0, vSAN Storage, VCD
  • Dell/EMC NetWorker and DataDomain
  • Symantic NetBackup 7.X

These would be of interest to us:

  • Experience of an Agile Delivery method.
  • An interest in or knowledge of computer and network security
