The Digital unit will lead our digital innovation agenda, driving new digital experiences for our customers – and in new markets – while, at the same time, simplifying what we have. They will be responsible for focusing on digital delivery and the customer experience as much as the end innovation (including delivery and transformation, digital innovation and delivery, data strategy and solutions, and architecture and governance).

The Digital unit will set and implement the overall BT Group Digital Platform Strategy including x-CFU products, platforms, architecture, standards, and transformation agenda.

We need a faster, more flexible architecture to allow us to provide an outstanding customer experience. Being closer to the products we sell, the strategy for evolution of these products and the overall business strategy is critical, this role will be that link.

This role will work under the Global Product Architec to to help advise the business in terms of product strategy with an architectural lens and advise domain focused Enterprise architects on the requirements from the business, it is an amazing opportunity to truly make sure BT’s architecture is delivering what the business needs.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

  • Product roadmap: Understand what the business is trying to achieve by embedding within the Global product lines, understand document, and develop an end-to-end product roadmap. Make sure the product strategy aligns with other CFU’s and suggest re-use where possible.
  • Architectural roadmap: Influences the Global Architectural roadmaps, helping turn off legacy systems, make sure products are implemented meet business requirements, product models are efficient, we re-use as much as possible and we are able to innovate.
  • Product transition: Decides how we technically transition products onto strategic/tactical architecture, understands how Global products flow through our architecture and advise the business on things they can to do optimise this
  • Architectural Guidance & Assurance: Guides and assures delivery teams to deliver according to product architecture guardrails, patterns & anti-patterns.
  • Techno-Economic perspective –Takes into account the total cost of ownership (TCO) in all decision-making enabling simplifying and lowering of TCO across the Digital Enablement landscape.
  • Customer Champion – You take ownership for brilliant customer experiences and create plans that deliver on customer expectations.
  • Collaborative Partner – You build networks inside and outside of the business with stakeholders who share in the business unit agenda, removing barriers to collaboration.

You’ll Have The Following Skills & Experience

  • Ability to take people on a journey in an inspirational way with simple clear communications.
  • Ability to influence disparate & varied groups Pan-BT to buy in to the architecture vision.
  • Ability and experience of driving technology transformation and execution at pace.
  • Ability to define shorter-term/tactical work that can be carried out within strategic vision.
  • Using outcome-based delivery and creative thinking / leadership to achieve results.
  • Proactive problem-analysis and design-thinking skill and capability to offer up innovative ideas to the business and others in BT.
  • Self-starting, execution-driven leader that can lead teams and virtual teams to deliver their vision and create an environment of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to guide Architects, product line and engineers in matching technology services to specific business service and application development projects to ensure consistent use throughout the enterprise.
  • Mandatory 3+ years’ experience as a Product Architect/Enterprise Architect or similar field
  • Mandatory Experience of complex product modelling methodologies and strategy
  • Mandatory experience of Architecture Frameworks including TOGAF, and their relevance to the practice of Enterprise Architecture. TOGAF certification not essential.
  • Mandatory experience of broad range of business, data, systems, and technology architecture and due diligence experience.
  • Preferred experience of agile product ownership and technical depth particularly around service-based architecture.
