Calderdale Council is leading by example in the action against climate change. The Council has declared a Climate Emergency and committed the Borough to becoming carbon neutral by 2038.
The Environmental Management Team is a driving force behind this activity, working both within the Council and on projects visible throughout the Borough.
We are now recruiting an Environmental Management Officer to help deliver our work.
You work will primarily involve managing the Council’s existing, mature Environmental Management System in line with ISO14001.
This will include auditing different Departments in a timely and sensitive way, ensuring good documents and records are kept, maintinaing a detailed knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, and building relationships to ensure continuous improvement.
You should be comfortable with having your own work externally audited and with briefing senior managers about your work using annual review statements and summaries.
You will also support other environmental priority areas as time allows, working on improvement projects and with the local community.
If you have a track record in managing an accredited environmental management system and influencing to improve environmental performance we would like to hear from you.
You should have excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work with numbers and technical data.
This role will offer the successful candidate experience in managing the environmental impacts of a large and complex organisation within a small but strong technical team.
