Job Description:

We are looking to recruit a reliable, enthusiastic, and pro-active person to become a full time (37 hours per week) Registrar of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Civil Partnerships/Deputy Superintendent Registrar, based at Buxton Registration Office in Derbyshire. The role requires you to manage statutory duties in a professional, confident, and sensitive manner at significant life defining and emotional moments of people’s lives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Whilst the job is based at Buxton, there will also be the requirement to work at other Derbyshire Registration Offices as necessary.
  • The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.30pm with 30 minutes each day for lunch, and two hours to be worked on Saturdays.
  • The post holder will also be required to work additional hours including on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at plain time where it is part of your normal working pattern unless it is between 7pm and 7am, where enhanced rates of pay apply. Enhanced pay rates are paid for Bank Holiday working.

Qualification & Experience:

  • The successful candidate must be experienced in the law and practice of registration matters and will undertake the full range of duties as required in the provision of The Registration Acts, in addition to supporting and deputising for the Superintendent Registrar, together with all associated tasks.
