Job Description

This role is an important and exciting addition to our business, reporting directly to the Head of People & Talent. It will focus on creating a truly positive experience for all our people, building on the work done so far and creating further plans to increase diversity and improve inclusion, making sure everyone at DPD feels like they belong, are valued and can bring their best self to work. This role will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to help create, drive the delivery of and embed the D & I action plan into business as usual.

You will lead the development and delivery of our D&I programme and strategy, working closely with all managers and employees. This will involve supporting the existing D & I Forum and ambassadors across the business to deliver projects and activities, raising awareness and working with the wider People & Talent team to provide a joined-up approach.

As our D & I Specialist you will be responsible for;

  • Supporting and challenging the senior leadership team in order to influence departmental strategy and embed a D&I best practice
  • Give strategic D&I input into all people processes such as Recruitment, Learning & Development and Performance Management to advance D&I as part of our employee experience.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in D&I, including any legislative requirements, implementing new ideas with innovation, creativity, and best practice in mind.
  • Using a systematic approach to assess organisational processes and practices, making recommendations that will set and deliver the D&I agenda
  • Working with the wider People & Talent team to help coach and upskill managers and employees on the value of diversity
  • Creating and collating diversity analytics to understand and track the performance and the impact of D & I in the organisation and against our People & Talent strategy and goals
  • Positively impact employee engagement, feedback and scores through increased awareness of D&I, organised events and ensuring all groups have a voice within the organisation
  • Creating positive action interventions to support under‐represented groups
  • Providing guidance and direction to ensure DPD communications reflect and promote a culture of diversity & inclusion, internally and externally


You’ll be a good match, if you have:

  • Proven managerial experience of working alongside senior leaders.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the D&I arena with exposure to a wide range of leading practices, ideologies and skills.
  • Experience of implementing a D&I strategy within a large complex business
  • Organisational, project management and facilitation skills, this will be an essential part of this role
  • A data led and results oriented approach combined with outstanding communication.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and meet competing priorities.
  • A passion and focus on diversity equity and inclusion
  • Professional qualification in HR or D&I is desirable
  • A detailed understanding of the relationship between diversity, achieving business objectives, and motivation and retention of employees, obtained through having worked in a strategic D&I position
  • Outstanding interpersonal and engagement skills
  • The ability to manage in a national environment responding to local needs as necessary.
  • Proven ability to manage and work well under pressure
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives
