Job Description:

Being accountable to both DfT and GLD for delivering a highly effective and efficient legal service, with delegated responsibility for a legal budget approaching £18m

Job Responsibilities:

• Providing risk-focused strategic legal advice to DfT ministers and senior officials in a fastpaced, high-profile environment
•  Acting as a role model for the Civil Service values

   

•  Providing confident, inspiring, empowering leadership to the DfT Legal Advisers team
• Engaging staff to develop a flexible, assured, innovative and efficient service

   

•  Building strong relationships with broader stakeholders and supplier firms
• Ensuring integration of legal analysis in DfT’s organisational decision-making culture
•  Building strong relationships within DfT as part of their senior leadership and enabling knowledge transfer to DfT colleagues

   

• Championing and valuing diverse experience and promoting equal respect for everyone regardless of background, role or grade

   

• Playing a visible role in the collective leadership of GLD, both as a senior member of the Directorate leadership team and part of the Strategic Leadership Group (the Board and Directors) for GLD
