This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career potential, working across a wide range of policy areas and functions, within the CMA’s Advocacy, Nations and External Relations (ANER) team.

One of our core objectives is to promote awareness of the benefits of competition and how we can help protect businesses and consumers from harmful, anti-competitive and unfair practices. ANER are responsible for leading the CMA’s stakeholder engagement with governments, parliaments, business, and consumer groups in all four UK nations. This includes engaging with policy makers to discuss the impact government policy can have on businesses and consumers.

You will support the delivery of our strategic priorities and functions in Scotland, ensuring the CMA’s voice is heard to promote awareness of the benefits of competition and how we can help protect businesses and consumers from harmful anti-competitive, unfair practices.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Developing and delivering proposals for stakeholder engagement (events, communications, and visits) in Scotland
  • Presenting the CMA, both orally and in writing, to a wide range of external audiences, including government, business, and regulatory stakeholders
  • Identifying, monitoring, and contributing to work on Scottish policy developments of interest to the CMA
  • Providing research, analysis and support to a wide range of CMA projects, including drafting documents and communication materials

You will need the ability to engage and build effective partnerships with stakeholders and represent the organisation in a professional and authoritative manner. You will also need experience of drafting and/or contributing to responses to policy consultations. Excellent project management skills with a focus on planning and delivering events are equally important.
