We are looking for a hungry social media specialist who is keen to take their social media career to the next level. You’ll get all the support you need to thrive in the UK External Communications team while being a vital member of the global comms team. Working closely with the social media manager, yet you’ll enjoy a hands-on role, understanding strategy, shaping concepts, ensuring daily delivery, and adapting and optimising content. Your work will take you across a huge variety of markets, projects and clients – from driving the world to net zero to protecting wildlife and environments and transforming how communities benefit from inspiring new technologies.

Your purpose

  • You’ll join a collaborative, global team of external and internal communicators and marketers and get to work on both regional and international projects.
  • You’ll develop and align the content strategy with short-term and long-term marketing and external communication targets.
  • Work with leads in various regions (Canada, US, UK, Middle-East and Asia Pacific) to develop a unified editorial calendar and unified voice.
  • Regularly audit existing channels and identify and launch new social channels that fit the social media strategy.
  • Ensure that practices, procedures, methodologies and tools are used effectively to attain the objectives set out in the business plan.
  • Execute social media strategy by writing compelling posts, creating or leading the creation of visual and video assets with the creative design team and schedule posts to publish content.
  • Monitor the organisation’s online presence and act as community manager to respond to requests, answer questions and foster online engagement.
  • Provide monthly performance and key learning reports.
  • Strive for continuous improvement by following industry trends, implementing best practice and applying insights.
  • Provide advice to all external communications and marketing team members and lead on social media training.

What you can bring

  • Experience in a social media management role
  • Excellent writing skills: ability to adapt tone of voice, embody the brand’s personality, and convey complex topics in simple language to multiple audiences
  • Deep understanding of LinkedIn and other current and emerging social media platforms; well versed in the latest trends and their broader impacts
  • A proven track record of growing and engaging communities and driving traffic
  • Excellent planning, process management, communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to think in a multichannel approach
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to create strategic links between events
  • Experience with social scheduling and monitoring tools
  • Experience in creating visual assets/leading the design process to create visual assets that support social media strategy
