About the job

Church Urban Fund

The Church Urban Fund (CUF) was established 30 years ago by the Church of England, to inspire and support practical social action to bring about positive change in lives and communities across England. Through a combination of community-based projects, capacity-building support and research and policy activity, working through The National Church, Diocese and the parish network, alongside other denominations, other faiths, and secular organisations, we work at a local level to see people and communities flourish and enjoy life fully.

As we look to the future, we wish to appoint an exceptional CEO who will provide visionary leadership to CUF. Our new CEO will build on our existing programs and relationships, help us develop our future strategy and inspire our wide-ranging partners and stakeholders to build better communities.

We are looking for an outstanding leader, excited about using their innovative experience to resource communities amidst a very challenging socio-economic climate.

You will be an inspirational and skillful navigator of networks. Able to make the most of wide-ranging relationships with key stakeholders across The Church and wider faith communities, in national and local government and across wider civil society, putting the voice of deprived communities at the heart of everything that we do. Candidates may bring experience from a career in secular or faith organisations and from the voluntary, public, or commercial sectors – it will be the heart for our mission and the ability to translate your experience that matters.

Reflecting the diverse communities that we are proud to serve, we are committed to widening the diversity of our leadership team. We therefore actively and warmly encourage applications from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.
