About the job

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust

Chair

£45,100 for 2-3 days a week

Location: Chesterfield

Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust is a successful and person-centred organisation rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC and delivering a broad range of community services across a significant and diverse geography. We are well-led, with our vision, mission, culture, and values embedded across the organisation. We are committed to working together with our colleagues, partners, and communities to improve the wellbeing of our populations across Derby and Derbyshire. We are a key member of the ‘Joined Up Care Derbyshire’ Integrated Care System and are seeking to further integrate health and care services at a place and system level, working with partners across the statutory and non-statutory sectors.

Our current Chair, Prem Singh will retire at the end of the year after over eight successful years of leading our Board. We are seeking a new Chair to build upon strong foundations and lead our Board and Council of Governors as we seek to achieve our vision “to be the best provider of local healthcare and to be a great place to work”. As Chair you will have responsibility for oversight of our strategy; holding the organisation to account for its delivery and seeking assurance that our systems of control are robust and reliable. Shaping an inclusive culture, you will further enhance our focus on continuous learning, improvement, and innovation. Supporting our role as a pivotal partner in the wider system, you will bring a style of constructive collaboration that will enable effective integration of our services as we collectively commit to reducing the health inequalities that exist in our populations.

Bringing inspirational leadership qualities and significant Board level experience in diverse and person-centred organisations, you will demonstrate compassion for our staff and those we serve, engaging at all levels with an authentic communication style. Your track record of leading change in complex organisations and multistakeholder environments will support your ability to quickly build credibility with a wide range of stakeholders. Promoting the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance you will offer independent challenge as well as a high degree of support. Your vision will enable us to influence system change at both place and regional level. This is an exceptional opportunity to directly impact on reducing health inequalities and to improve the wellbeing of our people and populations through leadership of an inclusive and high performing Board.

Closing date: Friday 11 November

Virtual Stakeholder Sessions: Tuesday 13 December

Final Interviews: Wednesday 14 December

We want our Board to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, so will look for individuals who bring lived experience that equips them both for the leadership aspects of the role but also brings an understanding of some of the challenges of our local communities.
