About the job

National Academy for Social Prescribing

The National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) is the charity that champions social prescribing. Social prescribing works alongside traditional healthcare to resolve issues that contribute to poor health and quality of life. It creates sustainable, supportive networks and relationships, and it connects people to non-medical support to help them with long-term solutions for things that are difficult. NASP wants social prescribing to thrive across the whole country.

Founded in 2019, NASP is a national charity with an income of around £3.5m which has gone through a period of rapid expansion. In the coming years it needs a Chief Executive who can balance the need for ongoing growth of the charity, securing recurrent investment and increasing public and stakeholder understanding of the concept of social prescribing. The next Chief Executive will build on this work, inspiring our diverse and passionate team into our next phase of growth and impact.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees chaired by Prof Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard, the Chief Executive will be an experienced, dynamic leader with an empathy and passion for the benefits of social prescribing. You will be an inspiring and compelling communicator, familiar with navigating complex stakeholder environments, ideally with some experience in one of our key sectors which include natural environment and heritage, arts and culture, physical activity and voluntary organisations. Ideal candidates will be collaborative and empowering leaders, experienced at shaping and enabling values-led, innovative, high performing, organisational work-cultures.

NASP is wholly committed to inclusion and diversity, and to building a culture and environment where everyone is appreciated for the unique person that they are. We actively and warmly encourage applications from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.
