role overview

Our event coordinator will be responsible for the planning and organising of internal colleague events, both face-to-face and virtually.

The ideal candidate will be creative, coming up with new ideas for internal events, and executing these to a high standard.

role/responsibilities

  • Organise employability events/activities in partnership with JD Foundation charities and Early Careers team, helping raise the aspirations of young people and educate on possible careers within JD Group.
  • Responsible for the planning of internal events designed to engage and motivate colleagues in the workplace. Working with the wider People Experience Team to deliver these events. This could range from events withing the office, retail, or distribution centre. To offsite conferences or social gatherings.
  • Attend and run events on the day, being the main point of contact for all stakeholders, ensuring the event runs to plan.
  • Ensure all events are delivered within the agreed budget. Negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best rates are secured for the business.
  • Present event plans and ideas in a creative way to Senior Stakeholders to gain buy-in and budget approval.
  • Evaluate event success, ensuring learnings are taken and reviewed.
  • Provide detailed evaluation / feedback to Senior stakeholders, sharing key highlights and learnings to be taken forward.
  • Own a calendar of events for the year, ensuring this is relevant and in line with the businesses needs and colleague feedback.
  • Attend engagement forums when suitable to obtain colleague feedback and input into event plans.

skills/experience/knowledge

  • Experience working within an event planning role would be advantageous
  • Experience of presenting event ideas to stakeholders in an articulate and engaging manner
  • Strong IT skills are essential
  • Negotiation skills
  • Must be organised and methodical.
