Job Responsibilities:

  • Make recommendations to the FND SMT on Fibre Build planning strategy and transformation enablers.
  • Role models safety culture with zero harm, whilst devolving responsibility and empowerment of safety down to Manager and team member level.
  • Establish, scale and industrialise the desk based operating model that supports Openreach’s Fibre First Strategic intent
  • Establish an holistic spine planning team. Creating an operating model that provides optimised Spine solutions agnostic of driver programme aligned to SFN principles making best value investment decisions across multiple programmes.
  • Negotiate long term sustainable partnerships that assure flexibility, whilst underpinning a viable unit cost.
  • Develop a fibre strategy that is scalable flexible and reduces dwell and waste to enable fibre build to build at pace and optimal cost per premise.
  • Provide thought leadership on the scope of the Fibre First program across FND, Openreach and, where appropriate, with industry. You will be the sole FND senior planning subject matter expert, and will maintain a high level but broad technical appreciation for this area of work by engaging regularly with CTIO, networks, and product specialists.
  • Understanding of future network build demand across Openreach with a specific focus on FND to identify synergies, risks and opportunities
  • Leadership Accountability: People leadership and development, including employee engagement, talent & succession planning, performance leadership, training & development, health and safety across a team of 100 direct labour FTE and where applicable up to 1000 eFTE provided by 3rd Party.
  • Accountable for developing robust delivery and production plans, considering wider FND and external factors, to ensure commitments are met and with flexibility to take into account program led demands and maximising throughput to high quality standards.
  • Regular engagement with directors and key stakeholders both internal and external to ensure program delivery support and conflict/risk resolution, resulting in the successful delivery of planning work for all FTTP and spine build.
  • Holding regional partners to account for delivery of programme or tasks, and challenging decisions which limit e2e FND success

Qualification & Experience:

  • Demonstrable ability to manage, coach and lead performance of an operational team.
  • Able to cut through barriers (perceived or real) to bring real clarity and focus to delivering for our customers
  • Safety, inclusivity and well-being focused. Able to set and drive high standards across a diverse team at all levels of the organisation.
  • Commercial and influencing skills.
  • Able to challenge, influence, and motivate at all levels
  • Analytical and structured approach with good operational thinking. Able to translate complex data into business insights and drive actionable service plans.
  • Expert knowledge of fibre network architecture, components, plan and build processes and IT platform in order to effectively lead and coach technical teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex problems / solutions in an articulate manner, using data to support your argument.
  • Driving change and transformation through programmes to enable a flexible, agile and forward looking planning organisation
