In support of the rapidly evolving payments landscape, the Payments Controls Organization is undergoing a transformation and advancing its end to end strategic operating model, bringing together the product, operations and technology controls organizations. Control managers are responsible for partnering with the Payments business to oversee control requirements at the portfolio level and make sure requirements align with product strategy.

The Payments Controls team is seeking an ED level candidate who will be a key member of the Payments Controls Transformation & Strategy team. The Payments Controls Transformation & Strategy team is leading the design and implementation of the strategic end to end operating model, with the mandate to transform the Payments Controls organization into a proactive advisor to the Payments business leveraging data and technology. The ED candidate will be the global program management lead responsible for establishing a project management office to drive execution and provide transparency for several high importance strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to create the infrastructure and tools for managing programs across Payments Controls and to become a trusted partner to senior leads across Payments Controls, the Payments business and the CIB Controls teams. This is a high visibility role which will require outstanding communication skills, a strategic mindset, and passion for execution.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishing and leading a project management office in support of programs across the Payments Controls organization globally
  • Applying a strategic mindset to drive delivery of initiatives efficiently and consistently across teams and the wider organization
  • Advising and influencing senior leaders on key business decisions and major change initiatives
  • Developing Executive-level materials for key meetings with Payments business leadership
  • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships with program stakeholders and peers and technology partners, with focus on delivery
  • Assisting in the definition of future operating models, as well as, control and governance frameworks
  • Driving analytics transformation through automation of manual data preparation and reporting tasks; Lead development of interactive analytics using Alteryx, Tableau and Qlick
  • Applying effective risk mitigation and issue escalation management
  • Champion for continuous improvement; help identify and implement change
  • The candidate would have to be a strong performer, flexible, able to work independently and create strong partnerships

Leadership

  • Extensive program management experience, ideally coupled with a strategic mindset and financial experience
  • Experience leading strategy, operations, process improvement, and high-profile strategic engagements
  • Experience solving complex business problems and driving projects from strategy to execution
  • Conflict resolution, change management, influencing, project management, delegation and coaching skills
  • Ability to influence outcomes and get the best from people, even where no direct line management responsibility exists
  • Thoughtful, informed and appropriately opinionated
  • Experience working with geographically distributed and culturally diverse workgroups

Effective Communicator

  • Ability to synthesize information to formulate a “story” for Senior Management
  • Assimilates broad-ranging information quickly and able to distil into key points
  • Quickly establishes rapport with business heads and other leaders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Delivery Focus

  • End-to-end project management experience, including scoping, business case development, implementation, and change management
  • Exceptional analytical skills to understand a diverse array of programs and complex end-to-end workflows
  • Effective change management and transformation experience. Ability to connect with teams to influence current state mindset, help them adapt to a changing environment
  • Strong understanding of Agile methods; stakeholder management; budget management, risk management and operations
  • Proven ability to achieve quality results in a high-pressure, rapidly changing environment requiring flexibility / adaptability to changeable directives.
  • Leverages the organization to deliver results quickly
