As a Markets Manager for Kirklees Council, you will be responsible for a number of major and smaller markets within the Kirklees District, including farmers markets and a range of themed markets and events. These Markets are operated over 362 days per year. They are a dynamic and active part of the cultural and economic life of Kirklees.

As a Markets Manager, you will provide strategic leadership, management, development and continuous improvement of an efficient and customer focused commercial market service. Leading on the development and implementation of a bold strategy built on data, intelligence and insights drawn from business engagement and research. The markets strategy under your leadership will ensure that markets across Kirklees are future proofed. As a solution focussed and innovative leader, you will ensure that markets actively contribute to the vibrancy, diversity and sustainability of key urban centres of Huddersfield and Dewsbury Town, and that of small towns across the district.

You will seize every opportunity to optimise performance and return as well as developing and driving forward initiatives to widen the customer and trader base.

As a proactive contributor to the Culture & Tourism service, you recognise the role of markets in delivering and enhancing the cultural life and vibrancy of the district. Working with teams and agendas within Culture & Tourism of Museums and Galleries, Creative Development, Events and Tourism, you will lead a collaborative approach to adding value to activity, taking responsibility for areas of work to maximise opportunities for Culture & Tourism, the Council and more over for residents of the district.
