Website Kirklees Council
Required from October 2023
We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of IT/Computer Science.
First and foremost, we require a teacher who can build excellent relationships with students. We are also seeking to appoint somebody with a good sense of humour and who enjoys working in a team. These are hugely important qualities in terms of collaborative working, but also in getting the very best out of our students.
A strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school is essential.
Subject knowledge is important, as is an up-to-date knowledge of the latest approaches in the teaching of IT. The successful candidate will thoroughly enjoy teaching their subject and understand the importance of IT in contributing to our students’ wider development.
In return, we offer an outstanding learning environment, working with students who are typically above national average attainment at start point in Year 7. Our IT / Computer Science department is well resourced and popular with students. There are four dedicated IT suites, which offer very pleasant working environments for staff and students. There is an increasing emphasis on Computer Science as part of curriculum development and this is heavily embedded in our KS3 Schemes of Learning.
In 2019, inspected by Ofsted under the New Framework. The school has retained its Good judgement and that included strong praise for our Quality of Education. The report is available on the school website.
The staff body is very experienced and we have a highly committed team who always ‘go the extra mile’ for the school and community. All staff are expected to contribute to the development of new resources and to work collaboratively with others. We also offer excellent professional development opportunities and a wide range of facilities. This will prepare the successful candidate for further leadership as well as developing subject knowledge and pedagogy.
Standards of behaviour are generally very good. We achieve this because of a very strong team work ethic in pastoral management, but also we do not tolerate poor choices without proportionate consequences. As a new member of staff, you will find the school to be an extremely welcoming environment to teach in. Staff wellbeing is of paramount importance and this is reflected in the ethos of the Senior Leadership Team.
This is a superb opportunity to come and join a school where you will succeed and see our students make great progress over their time with us.
