Brief Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic leader to join theSouthern Capital Delivery Wessexteam to support an excitingportfolio of signalling renewal projects.

What will you be responsible for?

As Senior Programme Manager, you will take responsibility for delivery of the Feltham and Wokingham Resignalling Programme, Farncombe to Petersfield Resignalling and other critical schemes which will transform the railway for our route colleagues and passengers.

The Southern Region is pioneering a new delivery model for Control Period 7 (CP7) based on Project 13 and it is expected that there will be opportunity for the successful candidate to support this exciting, modern way of working to deliver renewals projects.

About The Role (External)

Your Key Accountabilities will be to:

  • Lead the Programme team to deliver the programme objectives.
  • Achieve the efficiency savings as agreed with the Programme Director and Director, Infrastructure Investment.
  • Develop an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the Programme work scope.
  • Identify priority opportunities within the programme and lead promotion and sharing of best practice between programmes.
  • Monitor planning so that it considers cross-programme requirements.
  • Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage the Programme team, monitoring adequate resources available to deliver a flexible, competent, skilled and effective workforce at all times.
  • Contribute as a member of the Infrastructure Investment senior management team.
  • Lead compliance in corporate health, safety, quality and environment processes for the Programme.
  • Implement relevant parts of the renewals plan.
  • Direct the timely assignment of, and thereafter, discharge of, Construction Design Management (CDM) duties for all projects in the Programme.
  • Sponsor audit of programme and project documentation, activities, processes and systems. Lead the communication of key issues for the function.
  • Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.

Essential

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
  • Relevant experience in the successful management of major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.
  • Strong commercial focus and financially astute.
  • Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.
  • Excellent communication with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of/experience in the UK railway industry.
  • Six Sigma Champion.
  • Successfully completed the Strategic Safety Management Course
