We are looking for motivated and skilled people who are passionate about improving how analysis is done, ensuring it is communicated with impact and that a strategic approach is taken in analysis across government.

The Analysis Function leadership have a vision for improving how analysis is done across government through:

  • collaborating across professional and departmental boundaries;
  • building capability through bespoke consultancy work and by sharing good practice on topics such as communicating analysis with impact and integrating analysis into policy-making;
  • implementing the Analysis Function strategy;
  • facilitating knowledge sharing on analytical topics across government
  • driving forward a culture change to share and embed best practice into everyday activities.

You will play a core role in supporting the delivery of an essential element of the Analysis Function. You will work closely with analysts and senior leaders in ONS and other government departments to forge stronger links and deliver a user-focused approach to the Analysis Function.

This is an exciting opportunity to build and strengthen the work in this high-profile area and will suit those who are skilled at collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and who have excellent communication skills to deliver successful outcomes and a collaborative culture.

This post is not badged as an analytical post and is open to any applicants with the relevant skillset, but we would welcome applications from members of the analytical professions alongside those from other areas. The post will give an opportunity to take a more strategic view of how analysis is undertaken across government and develop stakeholder-engagement skills on a cross-government scale. Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the role includes, but is not limited to, the following, leading on specific elements within these:

  • Supporting delivery of the Analysis Function Strategy, working with partners across government to develop and promote the Analysis Function’s offer to departments highlighted within the strategy.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of an Implementation plan for the Analysis Function.
  • Supporting work on developing metrics and annual reports highlighting the progress made within the Function.
  • identifying further opportunities to support the strategic leadership of analysis, using innovative approaches and responding to changing priorities.
