These roles are based in the DIO Defence Estates Optimisation (DEO) Air team which delivers the Royal Navy, RAF, Joint Helicopter Command and Civilian Programmes across the United Kingdom.
The role will involve optimising the MOD estate as part of the Portfolio agreed by Parliament. We seek to move military and other MOD units to better support capability outputs and dispose of underutilised or aged estate.
You will bring improvements to the lives of service personnel and through delivering solutions that promote efficient energy use, sustainability and many other aspects across the estate, bring value for money.
To achieve this, you will be examining requirements, providing assurance that solutions meet the minimum requirement, developing business cases, overseeing the work of contractors delivering assessment studies and construction works. We must ensure solutions are delivered to time, cost and quality, so where needed we will invest in you, ensure you attend appropriate courses and wider team training – and throughout, you will be managed and mentored to ensure you develop the requisite skills and competence to enable you to deliver effective outputs and in time to progress within the MOD.
Travel to face-to-face meetings with customers and wider stakeholders including contractors and nights away from home will be required, but we embrace smart working based on the delivery of outputs and achieving objectives. The work can be complex due to the dependencies and interaction with other programmes or activities, but through team engagement and collaborative working these challenges can be overcome.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of successfully managing and delivering infrastructure programmes and projects, against a broad range of functional competences.
