UK Ministry of Defence Jobs – Services Regional Manager

Website UK Ministry of Defence

About the job

As a DTS regional manager you will oversee the delivery of Defence Transition Services throughout the south east of England. Within this region, you will promote and raise awareness of the services we offer, pro-actively identifying and engaging with relevant stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of DTS in terms of who we are, how we can help and how to access us. You will drive inward referrals of eligible military personnel and their family members.

Your work will involve virtual and face to face engagement with your contacts and colleagues including attending meetings and events, telephone and email correspondence and use of several virtual meeting platforms. In line with our active engagement with other parts of Veterans UK, you will also support efforts to raise awareness of Veterans UK more broadly, in particular VWS and IPC4V.

You will lead a small team, supporting colleagues to deliver relevant, timely support to your clients that’s compliant with policy, protocol and GDPR. In time, you may line manage a case worker for your region (we are currently seeking approval to establish this role) and on occasion, when required, you will take on casework of your own in order to help manage caseload within your team. You will play an active role in the DTS management team alongside your fellow regional managers and the DTS Officer in Charge, supporting the development of the service’s design and the processes we implement to deliver it. You will enhance the wider Veterans Services’ management team alongside our colleagues in VWS and IPC4V and fully engage with business-wide initiatives and events.

An understanding of the current transition, resettlement and military welfare space is desirable along with the ability to balance the welfare-nature of the service we offer to our clients and the drive to support the delivery of an efficient business area. Successful applicants will be provided with training to meet the demands of this role and are expected to maintain up to date and relevant skills and training whilst in post, both guided by Civil Service Required Learning and by independently identifying opportunities whilst in post.

This post is home-based and covers the whole of the south east of England. Use of a suitable regional office space within the Defence estate (tbd) will be arranged as appropriate for the role, incorporating the successful candidate’s preferences where possible and in line with MOD guidance on hybrid working. Specific regional boundaries are somewhat flexible based on the demands of each of the DTS regions and travel throughout the region is expected to be considerable. Frequent regional and sometimes UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays will be required as part of the role.
