The Information Support Officer (ISO) is accountable for delivering accurate and timely IT support to the DefSp organisation that is in line with legislation and MOD policy, whilst ensuring value for money is achieved. The post holder will regularly interact with the Information Managers (IMgr’s) and fellow ISO’s to proactively manage and ensure iHub outputs are completed, and user expectations are managed effectively, within the service level agreement.
Being a first point of contact for users, the ISO is responsible for providing Subject Matter Expertise support, guidance and governance. Queries can be technically complex and there is a requirement for engagement with internal and external stakeholders, such as our IT suppliers. The role of an ISO includes supporting the assurance, exploitation and management of information within DefSp and necessitates the provision of advice and guidance, giving ambitious and motivated candidates an opportunity to form an exciting career.
Person Specification: The post demands a robust understanding of the role of an IT Service Desk or iHub as well as general Information Management policies, directives and strategies. The candidate should have a strong Information Management background which is evidenced through a KIM related qualification or suitable experience and should have a working knowledge of IT tools and framework, including SharePoint and O365. The role requires an individual with excellent presentation and communication skills, who can collaborate well and interpret, understand and ensure compliance to relevant legislation and MOD/TLB policy. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are key in this fast-paced role as well as the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines. It is desirable that the ISO course via the Defence Academy has been completed, or there is a willingness to complete it in the first 6 months.
