Job Description:

We are looking for a #ZEROe Cryogenic Fuel Systems Engineer. In this role you will be lucky enough to work alongside a dedicated and innovative team who are focused on the Airbus purpose to “pioneer sustainable aviation for a safe & united world” and to develop the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft by 2035. This role will be based at Filton, one of our key sites in the UK.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with our test teams to identify and prepare validation and verification activities to demonstrate compliance with system requirements
  • Provide the technical contribution to equipment supply chain multi-function teams
  • Develop the understanding of the physical characteristics and fluid behaviours of liquid and gaseous hydrogen, in particular the resulting requirements/limitations on system and component design, installation and operation
  • Support the system architecture definition on hydrogen (H2) supplier equipment design, development, test, integration and qualification
  • Drive the selection of technological trades and equipment suppliers while ensuring safety, certification and product value generation
  • Engaging with key stakeholders both internally and externally, working with our growing H2 fuel systems team and developing key relationships with partners and suppliers to drive Airbus’ ZEROe ambition
  • Lead supplier management activities, including design studies and supplier design reviews of H2 components and present credible solutions and recommendations to stakeholders to achieve agreed and validated system designs

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in an Research & Technology (R&T) context, including capability to drive innovation
  • Understanding of aviation challenges and certification process
  • Knowledge and experience of hydrogen fuel systems equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, etc) with a particular focus on liquid cryogenic hydrogen
