This 16-week paid employment opportunity is available to you if you are looking to resume your professional career after experiencing a period of under-employment and/or unemployment.

This Programme offers you a chance to revamp your skills, update your resume with new experience, and make connections with other professionals who are returning to their careers.

Who can apply?

  • For this opportunity, the Amazon Returnship Programme welcomes Returners with previous experience in Software Development to apply.
  • If you have a 1+ years gap in your employment, for whatever reason, or if you are currently under-employed or employed in a different field, and want to return to Software Development, then we would like to hear from you.
  • To apply you must be living in, and have the right to work full time in EU and be available to start working fulltime in the Returnship Programme if your application is successful.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must be unemployed for 1+ years
  • Is not currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program
  • Open to relocate to Location of role
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Innovative and creative with Web technologies to build high performing websites and web services
  • Expert knowledge of Java
  • AWS Technologies such: DynamoDB, Kinesis, Elastic Search, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS
  • Familiarity with Spring MVC, Angular js, JavaScript, AJAX, XML, SOAP, SQL, AWS, caching, web protocols, and web services technologies
  • Experience developing software in a Unix/Linux environment
