  • For this opportunity, the Amazon Returnship Programme welcomes Returners with previous experience in Software Development to apply.
  • If you have a 1+ years gap in your employment, for whatever reason, or if you are currently under-employed or employed in a different field, and want to return to Software Development, then we would like to hear from you.
  • To apply you must be living in, and have the right to work full time in, the UK and be available to start working fulltime in the Returnship Programme if your application is successful.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on expertise in diverse technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between.
  • OS fundamentals and systems architecture.

Experience with front-end frameworks like React using TypeScript.

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience building systems of scale
  • Strong written and verbal English communications skills
