Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity to work and lead in the burgeoning field of local product taxes and excise duties. Working as part of the multi-location consumer tax planning team, and reporting to an EMEA VAT Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for: monitoring tax developments in the area; analysing law and drafting business requirements; and partnering with colleagues in the business, finance and other stakeholder functions. Example taxes in which the role will be involved include: alcohol and energy excise duties; sugar taxes; coffee taxes; and plastics taxes. There is likely to be scope to be involved in the expanding field of environmental taxes. The role may be initially based in London, Luxembourg or Barcelona, although regular travel to other locations is likely.

Basic Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Strong working proficiency in English language.
  • Significant experience in the indirect tax team of a global accounting/consulting firm, law firm or a blue chip in-house tax team.The experience should consist of significant work in excise duties and/or other product related taxation, or VAT.

The successful candidate will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a self-starting mindset and confidence to work independently, with periodic input from leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant law degree or specialist tax qualification is preferred, although not essential if the candidate is able to demonstrate sufficient technical expertise through previous experience of working with such taxes/duties.
