We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Associate Principal, Industry Analytics to help scale our growing advertising business with our accounts globally. The Associate Principal is a key member of the Analytics & Insights team at Amazon Ads, working with multi-functional partners including sales, product, engineering, and other Amazon business teams to analyze and improve advertisers’ performance on Amazon, in support of their marketing initiatives. Associate Principal’s work with Amazon’s unique insights, recommendations, and data and translate it into high-quality and actionable content to improve our Advertiser’s marketing and unlock business opportunities globally. Day to day, Associate Principal activities include aggregating, analyzing, and developing insights in order to curate content to develop data-driven narratives. These narratives are compelling, end-to-end and are used by our account team partners to help guide our advertiser’s marketing strategy. The deep industry expertise of a Associate Principal is critical to delivering the best insights and narratives for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

  • Use Amazon’s insights, your industry expertise and your understanding of our advertising customers’ business to provide guidance via crafting content to guide a brand’s strategy to help meet their objectives.
  • Be able to deal with ambiguity in order decipher complex problems, select an ideal solution from a wide array of analytic techniques and concepts and translate into compelling content.
  • Have the ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally and communicate effectively across multiple business functions and geographies.
  • Deliver compelling content for some of the world’s largest advertisers to drive business growth.
  • Demonstrate deep analytical ability, and develop great expertise in Amazon’s proprietary metrics, working to constantly evolve how we analyze and communicate data driven insights to our advertisers.
  • Be a proponent of data driven decision making and encourage clients to act on the recommendations.
  • Be someone who enjoys learning new skills and adopting new analytical methodologies and tools.
  • Enjoys working across categories, brands, and geographies in a truly global fashion.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree plus relevant experience in client-facing data analysis/data science roles
  • Proven industry expertise, especially analytical, within Softlines (Apparel/Fashion/Jewellery and related industries), Hardlines/Hard Goods (furniture, appliances, home etc), Financial Services, Media & Entertainment, Automotive or Hospitality & Travel.
  • Proven consulting experience with a major consulting firm or advertising experience with a top advertiser (agency or client side)
  • Excellent data driven storytelling skills – you craft compelling content and narratives with outstanding visuals
  • Advanced in SQL – ability to write complex queries from scratch from multiple tables, creating the appropriate joins, extracting and manipulating data, formatting fields, creating new measures and metrics, etc.
  • Fluency with an advanced analytical tool (Python, R, SAS, etc.) – ability to run advanced statistical modelling and testing in one of the above languages
  • Fluency with data visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, QuickSight etc.) – ability to create interactive, user-friendly and compelling dashboards and reports.
  • Complete understanding of the end-to-end process of marketing campaign development and execution.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in delivering client facing reports in a consultancy role.
  • Experience with advertising publishers and marketing/creative agencies.
  • MBA, Master’s or Doctoral degree in Economics, Marketing, Statistics, Advertising, or Business/Digital media planning experience.
  • Experience in performance advertising in a role where you managed significant complexity and scaling challenges.
  • Experience in predictive analytics, experimental design, A/B testing
  • Experience and familiarity with AWS stack.
  • Publication track record/writing experience (ex. published a paper in a technical journal or trade publication).
  • Experience in campaign management and set up.
