Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Europe Payments is looking for a Senior Leader to help us shape and expand Amazon’s Gift Card business through a high performing team spread across five countries. They will own strategy, business development and account management, CX improvements, cross-product marketing scaling opportunities, and will have overall P&L responsibility across four different distribution channels. The Head of EU Gift Cards will oversee 360-degree CX for Gifting, Self-Use and Internal use (Consumer channel), help to build and maintain key relationships with distribution partners and their portfolio of offline retailers (Brick & Mortar channel), source new brands for our growing third party Gift Card selection (Branded Gift Card channel), and leverage Amazon Gift Cards and Prime Promo Codes to help companies engage their clients, partners, customers and employees via customer acquisition/ retention campaigns, loyalty schemes, employee rewards programs or disbursement use cases (B2B/Incentives channel). The role delivers impact across a far-scattered region through country, network and use case expansion, on and off-Amazon marketing exposure strategies, mechanisms to meet long-term business goals, negotiating contracts with partners that often span multiple countries, strategic long-range-plans and initiatives to combat fraud & abuse.

Key job responsibilities

This is a leader of leaders role that has high visibility within a dynamic and exciting team. The role affects Amazon broadly and requires frequent high judgement in deploying resources in a lean team, cultivating a high-performance bar remotely with team members in UK, DE, FR, IT and ES, driving predictability in internal planning, and developing and maintaining competitive analysis and industry knowledge to identify customer needs, market opportunities and emerging trends. You will collaborate with internal and external cross functional teams, spanning Product, Operations, Engineering, Customer Service, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Compliance, Public Policy and Transaction Risk/Fraud Management. You will work with these groups to assess business needs and execute against a long-range plan and helping improve business economics through multiple levers. You will apply strategic management with strong ability to distil diverse inputs from various stakeholders and large customer segments with differing behaviors/cultural expectations (e.g. cash and self-use preferences) to set a vision, tenets, design strategy, and achieve consensus on long-term priorities including local nuances if needed.

A day in the life

While every day is different in the world of EU Payments, as Head of EU Gift Cards on any given day you could be working with your team on career development, developing long-term strategic visions to drive greater productivity, reviewing your team’s deep dives on trends, working with risk/compliance on fraud prevention strategies, discussing readiness plans with senior leadership from external partners, briefing EU Country and Retail leadership during a business review, or helping negotiate the framework for a new distribution partnership.

About The Team

Amazon Gift Cards is a growing, multi-billion-dollar business that contributes significantly to Amazon’s success and growth. It drives the Amazon flywheel by adding new customers and driving higher engagement from existing customers by providing the most convenient and desirable gifting options to customers for all occasions, offering the most effective incentive options for business customers, growing our third party gift card selection and making the Amazon Balance management experience intuitive and easy. The Gift Card team is responsible for creating and launching Gift Card products sold globally through a variety of channels, including the Amazon website, direct corporate sales, retail stores, and other partnerships.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Extensive experience in leading teams across multiple geographies
  • Proven track record in negotiating multi-million dollar deals
  • Project management skills and an ability to drive multiple initiatives against tight deadlines
  • Excellent communications skills; the ability to draft, edit, and proof-read communications targeted at senior leadership
  • Comfort with highly ambiguous environments and constant change
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically about (retail-) business, product, and technical challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
  • Experience in eCommerce, Payment and/or Gift Card fields
  • Experience in finance and accounting
  • Experience in managing programs to combat Fraud
  • World-class sense of humor
