Amazon Studios is the movies and television development and production arm of Amazon. It is our role to produce original content and license studio programs worldwide in exclusive service of Amazon’s Prime Video customers. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to help take us to new heights.

We are looking for a business affairs executive to add to Amazon Studios’ film and television group. This role will also support services across all scripted and unscripted deals. A comprehensive working knowledge of international film and television industry business models, development and production methodologies is necessary. Further this candidate should be capable of addressing multi-territory guild regulations (WGGB, Equity, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, and WGA) contract law and intellectual property rights (as applicable to the entertainment industry), along with excellent drafting, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational and computer skills.

This role is based in London and will report to the Head of Business Affairs.

Key job responsibilities

This business affairs executive will support above-the-line talent deals (i.e., writer, producer, director, cast, etc.), development deals, underlying rights deals (i.e., original scripts, book rights, format rights, etc.) and production deals led by the UK Business affairs team. Further, this candidate will support Amazon’s Legal Affairs team to finalize agreements, and to address production issues as they arise. This business affairs executive must be able to manage a varied, high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly, operate within corporate parameters, and remain cool and levelheaded in pressurized situations. A successful candidate is expected to be able to work collaboratively with colleagues in this department and across the studio, build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise senior-level executives under time-sensitive conditions and generate client satisfaction through clear thinking and risk analysis.

A day in the life

You will have a demonstrated ability to effectively interact and negotiate with producers, agents, managers and outside attorneys, and be able to efficiently communicate status with other members of the Amazon Studios team including Creative, Production, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Tax and Legal, as well as Amazon executives outside of Amazon Studios.

About The Team

This role is part of a growing business affairs team that specialize in the negotiations of commercial terms associated with Amazon Studios original UK productions. The Business Affairs team works hand-in-hand with Amazon’s Legal Affairs team to conclude critical original content agreements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in negotiating deals in entertainment
  • Experience working for a production company, studio, or television network
  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science and Law Degree/Qualified Solicitor or equivalent
  • A thorough understanding of European entertainment industry customs and practices with multiple years’ experience representing or working for a major scripted production company, studio or network in-house studio

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of various international media business models
  • Trusted and established relationships with UK agents, lawyers and production companies.
  • Ability to understand and implement new business models.
  • Deep interest in technology and innovation.
