Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon seeks a Business Intelligence Engineer with strong database, analytical and technology experience to support its growing European Amazon Advertising business. Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of advertising and ecommerce and offers advertisers a rich array of innovative advertising solutions across Amazon’s mobile and desktop websites, proprietary devices and DSP solutions. We are breaking fresh ground and pioneering a crucial platform for future Amazon growth. We are entrepreneurial and have a bias for action with a broad mandate to experiment and innovate. This role is an exciting opportunity to join one of the fastest growing divisions within Amazon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and standardising key metrics used across EU Advertising. The candidate should enjoy diving into data and recommending and implementing solutions to facilitate financial and business metrics reporting.

Key job responsibilities

  • Cross team collaboration with the Ads Sales, Product, BI and Data Engineering to identify, review and standardise key metrics
  • Proactively and independently work with stakeholders to construct use cases and associated standardised outputs
  • Translate complex or ambiguous business problem statements into analysis and metrics requirements
  • Scale data processes and reports; write queries that can be scaled and automated
  • Have a working knowledge of the data available or needed by the wider business for more complex or comparative analysis and the ability to work with a variety of different data sources
  • Retrieve data using efficient query development that requires less post processing as well as using sources to validate data
  • Optimising source data to maximize reporting automation
  • Identifying and adopting best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience in the data/BI space
  • Bachelor in computer science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field; or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience with SQL, Excel
  • Business Intelligence experience working with Data Warehouse (e.g.: Redshift, AWS) solutions and large data sets to be able to source data from various locations
  • Previous experience with reporting and visualization using Tableau, Cognos cubes or other OLAP cube/data visualization and reporting package

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master in computer science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or related field
  • Excellent verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate issues at multiple levels, including explaining the implications of analysis results to executives
  • Previous experience working in the areas of inferential statistics, machine learning and predictive modeling
