Job Summary

DESCRIPTION

Amazon’s Customer Service (CS) department is seeking an experienced business intelligence engineer (BIE) to join the team. Customer service is the heart of Amazon, our vision is to be “Earth’s most customer-centric company; to build a place where people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online.”

The successful candidate will be a key member of the EU Data Insights and Design (DID) Automation team. The mission of this team is to make work in EU Customer Service simpler and more productive by using innovative solutions to reduce manual effort and improve data accessibility.

A successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions and have the ability to work with technology, project management, and business teams. They will have passion for data and analytics, be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail, an ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, and driven by a desire to innovate Amazon’s approach in this space.

This position can be located in any EU CS (Cork, Edinburgh, Regensburg, Berlin, Rabat, Cagliari) or corporate site (Paris, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Luxembourg).

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with a variety of data sources and large data sets, pull data using efficient query development and provide a holistic and consistent view of the data
  • Actively manage the timeline and deliverables of projects, anticipate risks and resolve issues
  • Work with our customers to understand their needs and design reporting solutions that will exceed expectations
  • Develop flexible and scalable solutions using new technologies
  • Automate existing processes where needed
  • Debug report issues, unblock workflows and communicate with other teams and customers to provide status updates

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience with Data modeling, SQL, ETL , Data Warehousing and Data Lakes
  • Experience in writing SQL scripts
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple conflicting requirements with high attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment
  • Knowledge of scripting for automation (Python) and expert SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of AWS products and services
  • Excellent verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including ability to succinctly summarize key findings and effectively communicate with both business and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • French, German, Italian or Spanish language skills would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field
  • Experience with statistical and data science disciplines and technologies
