Amazon is looking for an experienced, talented and highly motivated individual to join our Customer Experience Strategy team in London. We are seeking a TPM to lead cross-org initiatives in Device eXperience Automation. You will be part of the team that adds new software/hardware capabilities with multiple visual, audio and natural language analytic methodologies. You will directly work with applied scientists to integrate and scale solutions that heavily leverage machine learning (ML) and quantitative analysis to challenge conventional wisdom with hard data.

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a Sr TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities

As a Sr. TPM on the team, you will be responsible for:

  • Scoping and delivering projects end-to-end in an organization of some awesome software engineers and scientists.
  • Collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch.
  • Make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.
  • Able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.
  • Perceptive insights on business and customer requirements to drive vision and planning for the organization as a whole.
  • Diving deep into our architecture and systems and learn about the machine learning technologies that power the digital experience measurement and create initiatives for technology innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Engage on a regular and frequent basis with Senior Executive teams on product status, risks and strategy.

A day in the life

  • Build and manage complex technical programs
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and support engineers to deliver products which enhances the customer experience of Amazon customers.
  • Engage the right peers, leaders, partners and industry guidance to remove ambiguity, optimize the technical roadmap to support business objectives and deliver results
  • Implement success metrics, reports, and processes to measure program effectiveness.

About The Team

The Customer Experience Strategy organization acts as trusted advisors to the business, owning and delivering continuous performance/quality business metrics/insights, across a variety of business and stakeholder groups. Our team covers a broad swath of software development including control software, distributed backend systems, web services, real-time system, networking and smart phone app development.

How do we automate all the customer experience measurement? How do we know our products are faster / smoother / smarter? Here are some of technologies we’ve immersed ourselves into regularly.

  • Computer Vision using ML, including both OpenCV and our own deep learning models.
  • Speech recognition and natural language understanding using ML
  • Robotics towards IoT

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience managing technical programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience owning roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience working directly with engineering teams
  • System design experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience overseeing roadmap strategy and definition
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Robust quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and good business acumen.
  • A first-hand working knowledge of current web technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects
