Amazon WWRR&S is comprised of business, product, operational, program, software engineering and data teams that manage the life of a returned or damaged product from a customer to the warehouse and on to its next best use. Our work is broad and deep: we train machine learning models to automate routing and find signals to optimize re-use; we invent new channels to give products a second life; we develop world-class product support to help customers love what they buy; we pilot smarter product evaluations; we work from the customer backward to find ways to make the return experience remarkably delightful and easy; and we do it all while scrutinizing our business with laser focus.

This role can be based at any of our EU Hub locations, preferred Berlin/Munich, Germany.

In this role as Sr Business Developer you will build and manage our partnerships strategy with some of the largest companies in the world. This role will be responsible for identifying, prioritizing, and pursuing new collaboration opportunities, along-term ideas with our most strategic partners. You will be the single-threaded leader for the WWRR&S organization leading partner relationships across several teams in Consumer, Hub, & Corp Business Development.

The right candidate stays on top of industry and competitive trends, and can execute at both a tactical and strategic level to drive the right business outcomes while also improving our customer experience. Our ideal candidate will have deep experience in business analytics, strategic relationship building, deal negotiation, and Profit & Loss management. In addition, the candidate will enjoy improving customer experience for both partners and end users.

  • Communicator: Ability to present to c-level executives, communicate expectations and requirements equally well with business and technology teams, and capacity to write well-reasoned and data-driven proposals, performing your own data analysis as necessary.
  • Problem Solver: Ability to utilize exceptional problem-solving skills to work through difficult challenges.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define and execute on a strategic market development plan and ensure it is in line with the business strategic direction, in partnership with key internal stakeholders (product, finance, operations, marketing, partner teams, legal, etc.).
  • Build business development pipeline by engaging with key prospects and partners.
  • Understand the technical requirements of our customers and work closely with the internal development teams to guide the direction of our product offerings.
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management tools.
  • Present business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to expanding our reach in the retail industry.
  • Manage complex contract negotiations and liaison with the legal group.
  • Handle a high volume of engagements and interactions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Extensive business development experience negotiating large scale commercial contracts
  • Analytical skills, critical thinking, and willingness to roll up sleeves
  • Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic modes
  • Ability to prioritize in a quickly changing environment
  • Good communication skills – speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating
  • Experience with complex quantitative analysis
  • Technical aptitude and agility to manage web-based tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Background in Retail, Operations, and/or Finance
  • Familiarity with database analysis and/or SQL
  • Experience working with global companies or international negotiations
  • Executive level relationships and large network in the retail industry
