We are extremely busy within Asda Technology with plenty of new and exciting projects coming through, so if you like to be kept busy, then you’ll definitely enjoy this role! We work very closely with Walmart, third-party suppliers, and our own internal teams, so ideally, you’ll have direct experience of working with offshore / global teams across several time zones. 

Future’ is the name for the programme that will see Asda create their new operating model, independent from Walmart. Technology will undoubtedly be one of the most ambitious parts of this work – the technology decisions made will underpin the way the entire business will operate in the future.

The role is within Asda Technology and you will report into the Senior Programme Manager.

Your Role

You’ll be involved in creating and delivering project plans and prioritisation of project activity to meet the overall business project objectives and strategy.

You could be managing projects within an Agile or Waterfall methodology, so ideally, you will have experience in both and how they can be blended.

Specific Responsibilities Include

• Leading the end-to-end project lifecycle, from planning, implementation, and evaluation of the projects
• Apply project management expertise while leading cross-functional resources to meet project requirements within established timeframes and budgets
• Bringing together project team members from across the business and third-party organisations to develop a schedule to ensure timely completion of projects focusing on targeted outcomes
• Adhering to project management frameworks and standards within the team, including good financial governance
• Working across multiple projects at a time with varying scales and durations.
• Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and escalating issues as required

About You

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with rapidly changing priorities and challenging stakeholders
• Confidence, flexibility and resilience – and willingness to challenge when deadlines are not met, or standards not achieved
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and good attention to detail
• Works well with others and experienced in working cross-functionally with a diverse range of people
• Experience as a Finance systems project manager with expertise within ERP programmes
• Specifically, knowledge on SAP S4 Hana upgrades with knowledge on FI/CO/MM modules is desirable
• Minimum of 5 years project management experience ideally in waterfall or agile environments and with demonstrable end to end project ownership. Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM (or equivalent is advantageous)
