Asda is one of the UK’s best loved and best-known brands, with a head office in the heart of Leeds.

We are looking for a UI/UX designer (12 months Maternity Cover) to join our User Experience (UX) team. While this is a midweight role, we would also consider a talented and enthusiastic junior designer.

Your Role

UI/UX designers make Asda’s digital services easy to use and understand. We work collaboratively to create usable, intuitive experiences across both web and app.

We are currently rebuilding our entire digital real estate following our move to British ownership. Exciting, fast paced design projects abound, and the right person can have real impact.

About You

You may have industry experience and already be part of a multi-disciplinary team designing responsive websites and/or mobile apps. Or you might be a talented junior designer, still relatively new to the UX world.

But either way, you’ll have a good balance of UX and UI skills, with a portfolio that shows:

• wireframes, interaction design concepts, prototypes and other design documents as well as production ready designs
• an understanding of best practice in usability and interaction design
• good working knowledge of platform and browser constraints
• designs that reflect a clear understanding of the brand and user

You deal confidently with colleagues and stakeholders, both to gather requirements and pitch design solutions.

Passionate about user centred design, you can show that you:

• work from evidence
• explore the problem before jumping to a solution
• test and iterate
• champion the user

We’d love it if you have experience of, or are keen to learn about:

• working with user researchers and conducting your own research
• designing with accessibility and inclusivity in mind
• contributing to a design system
• the tools we use: Figma and Axure
