As a Barclays Android Engineer, you will be working in feature teams building and maintaining features for the Android Barclays App. This is exciting opportunity for you to drive engineering excellence, whilst having some line management/mentoring responsibility for other Android Engineers and will contributing to a high quality developer eco-system.

What will you be doing?

• You will be doing application development – writing well designed, reusable, testable and maintainable code by applying best software development practices
• Debugging, diagnosing and fixing software related problems in developing and existing applications
• Participating and conducting code reviews and discovering, learning and implementing new technologies as and when required
• Collaborating and communicating with other engineers, solution architects, tech leads to help define & build efficient technical solutions
• Being available to mentor junior / graduate / apprentice developers on regular bases
• Contributing to feature team for continuous improvement within your feature as required
• Maintaining good working relationships with internal key stakeholders and Solution Architecture teams across multiple Business Units
• Being proactive in driving team cohesion by working well as part of the team and maintaining good relations with team members

What We’re Looking For

• In depth knowledge of the Android SDK, Java, Kotlin
• In depth knowledge of automated testing – unit tests, UI tests, espresso, Roboelectric
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Experience working to Agile / Scrum methodology

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• In depth knowledge of Gradle, Groovy & CI tools
• Knowledge of Android NDK, C & C++
• Knowledge of cross platform mobile development frameworks Flutter, React Native.

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
