zOS Connect Mainframe Systems Programmer

As a Barclays zOS Connect Mainframe Systems Programmer, you will be at the heart of our ability to deliver and support resilient, secure infrastructure technology and services to customers, clients and colleagues. Working within the Group Technology Infrastructure Services (GTIS), you will be instrumental in ensuring that the infrastructure components of z/OS Connect (ZCEE) that support our API’s and that all Websphere systems, which run on the mainframe, are managed in a way that is acceptable to both Barclays and their customers.

What will you be doing?

• Diagnosing problems through the use of analytical skills, helping colleagues to learn new skills in problem diagnosis
• Maintaining z/OS Connect and/or z/WebSphere Application from an infrastructure perspective
• Preparing and implementing changes to those Mainframe Environments
• Driving team development in both technical and non-technical areas
• Resolving Incidents and problems for the zOS Websphere and Z/OS Connect Environments to meet our SLA’s

What We’re Looking For

• Must have the curiosity to investigate or discover potential improvements, new products/features and/or resolve any underlying issues that fall within our scope
• Must demonstrate the attention to detail that helps prevent errors and allows us to execute all of our tasks to the best of our ability as a team
• Good knowledge of mainframe processes and tools such as JCL, TWS, RACF or other z/OS operational tools
• IT security awareness

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Awareness of one or more of the following: CICS, IMS, DB2, MQ and a good knowledge of IT operating systems and hardware
• Proven practical experience working on Mainframe Infrastructure, or mainframe application experience and some knowledge of zWAS or ZCEE infrastructure
• An interest in mainframe innovation
• Experience in the installation, maintenance and upgrade of mainframe products

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
