Application Database Administrator (DBA)

As a Barclays Application Database Administrator (DBA), you will play a key part within our Retail Engineering & Development team. You will be required to lead the delivery of data and database solutions spanning multiple application teams and technologies, providing support throughout the end-to-end data development lifecycle. Your communication skills will enable you to build and maintain relationships whilst working closely with our stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery within timescales and to budget.

What will you be doing?

• Contributing to the development of data and database standards and ensure conformance to these standards.
• Utilising proven database development experience in leading the data element of projects to influence technical and delivery strategy.
• Reviewing data access requirements to ensure they are sufficiently comprehensive and detailed to support effective database development
• Presenting complex technical ideas (both written and verbal), anticipate potential objections and persuade others to adopt the most appropriate view.
• Liaising with multiple delivery teams including Barclays teams and external suppliers.
• Ensuring that the technical integrity and quality of the data design is maintained throughout delivery

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to manage the project data lifecycle from data requirements through to deployment.
• Ability to liaise with Data modelers and other in the development of data requirements.
• DB2 mainframe database skills.
• Highly developed skills in troubleshooting and problem correction.

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Formal certification in a database technology is desirable.
• Experience of non-mainframe database technologies.
• Experience in DevOps techniques and technologies.
• Banking or Financial Services experience is particularly desirable.
