Equity Derivatives Developer

As a Barclays Equity Derivatives Developer, you will work closely with the Structured Equities Trading Desks (EFS) to support their business, ensure reports are delivered on time and maintain and enhance Dirac. The focus of the role is on in-house functional programming language (FMD) within Excel, C# and occasional usage of VBA. The team are undertaking a number of strategic initiatives to move functionality away from FMD and into more industry standard technologies like C#, ASP.Net and python.

Hybrid Working

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Developing and maintaining FOIT applications and solutions for the EFS desk, (Marker Risk function)GFRM, and Product Control functions
  • Interacting with Trading, Operations, and Finance clients as well as team members
  • Providing tactical solutions on business requests
  • Building out new reports on request from the stakeholders by leasing with Quant/Pricing teams
  • Integrating FOIT solutions into the strategic projects within the department where required

What We’re Looking For

  • Be technically proficient – knowledge of data structures, algorithms and general problem solving is required.
  • Be comfortable learning new programming languages, specifically FMD.
  • Be proficient in one or more of C++, C# or Excel/VBA.
  • Be comfortable facing off directly to the business.

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • Knowledge of functional programming (e.g. Haskell, F#).
  • Knowledge of Equity Derivatives.
  • Knowledge of Exotic Equity Derivatives.
  • Proven ability to pick up and learn new languages on the job.
