Lead Security Engineer/Designer

As a Barclays Lead Security Engineer/Designer, you’ll join us within the Security Engineering and Technology Service. You will be responsible for understanding, researching, designing, and documenting the security solutions with the products Barclays has acquired for consumption as a service offering across all of Barclays. This will be the ideal role for you if you have the ability to think architecturally at ‘big picture’ and able to translate this into practical security implementation

Hybrid Working

What will you be doing?

• Developing a strong knowledge of security tooling (commercial off-shelf) and support the development team in configuring the tool to meet their requirements
• Analysing requirements, driving the vision for various security product and design solutions to meet the user requirements for a various range of security tooling
• Liaising with the Data and insights team to analyse data to support the design decisions to enable areas like detection for malicious activity in log data, network traffic or on endpoints
• Owning the engineering of technical solutions and Designs across security domains
• Collaborating closely with Enterprise Architects, Security consultants, Project Managers and Security Engineers and global infrastructure resources
• Taking responsibility for the delivery of engineering designs which are then deployed by the engineering teams
• Working closely with on-shore and off-shore teams, across multiple time zones

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive engineering and/or design experience
• Excellent overall knowledge of open source and commercial security tooling and integrations
• Strong knowledge of security network architectures (e.g. Firewalls, DMZ, proxies, DNS, web and mail servers) and the principles of networking
• Good diagramming and documentation skills

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Experience of Solution design for complex and large global organisations
• Relevant professional certifications in information technology or cloud security e.g. CISSP, CCSP, CISA, CEH, OSCP, GIAC
• Agile methodology qualification
• Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure)

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play. We have an onsite gym, as well as outdoor tennis, football and cricket areas, as well as onsite restaurant and coffee shops.
