Functional Developer

As a Barclays Functional Developer you will be a member of the Market Risk Cloud delivery team.

You will be involved in all aspects of the team’s work but with a particular emphasis on functional programming for our strategic platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will be engaging directly with stakeholders in the business, middle office, quantitative modelling team, and other IT teams to understand requirements, troubleshoot problems, and deliver the tools they need.

This opportunity is location flexible. We will consider requests for locating the role at an alternative Barclays’ key UK office from that advertised.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

• Participate in overall strategy & design through technical discussions
• Personal contributor to the code-base
• Work with clients to understand how best to leverage the system to solve their business problems
• Work within the development team to provide peer code reviews before code integration and deployment
• Proactively problem solve and suggest future enhancements by working with both business and technology teams
• Help to manage the DevOps environment for the global Stress team
• Actively supporting our user base and establish rapport and trust with them
• Understand repeated pain points and make appropriate improvements

What We’re Looking For

• NET (C#, F#), C++ or Python experience
• Good analytical skills and the ability to develop effective solutions
• AWS/Cloud experience
• Experience of software testing, unit, integration, stress and load tests
