Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

As a Barclays Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for validating, certifying and delivering engineered solution for the Barclays on-premises cloud platform. You will need to be able to communicate with both vendors and internal stake holders and have good understanding of cloud technologies including x86 server hardware.

What will you be doing?

• You will be responsible for working in conjunction with the CTO organisation to ensure that the architecture vision is deliverable
• You will be responsible for delivered infrastructure solutions that drive adoption of the Barclays on-premises cloud
• Managing the life cycling of vendor products to ensure that security updates and version updates are released within agreed timelines
• Dealing with problem-solving situations with a focus on root cause analysis
• Showing your ability to work well under pressure, deliver to deadlines, and take ownership to ensure the success for our customers, both internally and externally
• Showing your experience in communicating with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and can tailor the message according to the audience

What We’re Looking For

• Knowledge of delivering engineered solution with either private or hybrid cloud technologies
• Experience with engineering solution primarily around VMware vSphere or VMware Cloud Foundation
• Experience with NSX-v, NSX-T, and NSX Advanced Load Balancer
• A good working knowledge of general networking technologies including technology such as Cisco ACI

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• ITIL accredited with at least one VMware qualification
• Understanding of on-premises cloud
• Preferred knowledge of HPE, Dell, and Cisco server hardware
• Good working knowledge of Windows and Linux

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
