As a Barclay’s Programme Manager you will be delivering projects within the Tech Data Management Technology portfolio to agreed quality and governance standards. You will also deliver projects, supporting the business strategy from business case through to initiation, requirement analysis, design, build, testing, implementation, benefits realization and closure. The role will also involve management of project teams (direct or indirect) engaged throughout the full delivery lifecycle.

This opportunity is location flexible. We will consider requests for locating the role at an alternative Barclays’ key UK office from that advertised.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Working with respective leads to define and implement the strategy and vision, translating gaps between current state architecture and strategy into a project plan/roadmap
  • Working with the Portfolio Lead and Accountable Exec to set out the business case for the programme
  • Defining and implementing governance and reporting structure appropriate for the project
  • Ensuring that quality plans are prepared and maintained for complex projects, providing regular and accurate reports on progress against plan to stakeholders as appropriate
  • Constructing and managing the project financials (budget, forecast, actuals), providing detailed reports on variances to key stakeholders
  • Ensuring all resources are in place, appropriately skilled and appointed in line with delivery plans
  • Ensuring compliance to quality assurance per the Change Framework and initiate other assurance activities where required
  • Identifying, defining & tracking the realisation of the project benefits in line with the expectation set out in the Business Case

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in managing Data and Analytics driven projects
  • Good Financial industry knowledge, experience of working with Risk, Finance and Treasury functions
  • Understanding of Data Platforms, Cloud Solutions and Monitoring and Alerting
  • Understanding of banking applications and infrastructure

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • Experience with managing projects of medium – large complexity, business critical and cross-functional teams spanning multiple regions and functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation to Senior level stakeholders
  • Able to build up good knowledge of specialist areas that projects operate in
  • Understanding of Data Standards and Management of Data
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft products, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project
  • Project Management – Practitioner level accreditation (eg Prince 2, PMI, APM, Agile)

Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we’ve been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997. This state-of-the art energy efficient building holds up to 2,500 staff. The office location is perfect for travel from the midlands and London alike as we are based just off the A45, it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
