Development Services Python Engineer

As a Barclays Python Engineer, you will be part of a team dedicated to improving the day-to-day experience of being a developer at Barclays, by making sure we have the appropriate tools, technology and processes, to support our global Technology teams. Working within our Autoserve Engineering team, your role will be instrumental in delivering centrally supported development tools and services that our technology teams can rely on.

Hybrid Working

What will you be doing?

• Providing deliver change and L2/L3 support to services that underpin technology delivery including but not limited to Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Jenkins, SonarQube and Nexus
• Delivering solutions as code, fully automated using Infrastructure-as-Code(Terraform, Cloud formation and Chef) and DevOps techniques (CI and Automated Deployment/Delivery)
• Implementing automated testing
• Driving continuous code quality improvements by responding to analysis output from IDE linting plugins, SonarQube code quality analysis and application security analysis tooling
• Delivering change to production environments in full conformance with the Barclays Change Management Standard
• Contributing to a continuous improvement team mindset
• Building collaborative networks both within the Developer Services Team and with the broader python application development community across Barclays
• Contributing to a better Developer Experience at Barclays

What We’re Looking For

• Commercial software development experience, preferably using Python, including automated testing, continuous integration and Git based source control
• Experience working with Linux operating systems including automation through bash scripting
• Highly motivated and independently curious to find better ways to implement technology solutions

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Hands on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code/automated deployment tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet or Ansible
• API and Serverless application development; SQL database query development and execution
• Windows operating systems and automation through PowerShell scripting
• Elastic (ELK) stack
