QA Model Governance (Empirical SME)

As a Barclays QA Model Governance (Empirical SME), you will support the units leads with all governance and model risk management requirements and help embed QA control framework. You will achieve this through effective planning of QA governance oversight throughout the model development, implementation and model monitoring cycle and coordination, review and challenge of QA control evidence.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. What will you be doing?

• Planning, executing and overseeing QA Governance oversight work
• Reviewing and challenging QA technical model documentation as well as control testing, conformance and audit activity
• Contributing to discussions with key stakeholders, within and outside QA by providing insight based on Empirical model knowledge
• Anticipating model and operational risk issues, to establish best practice guidance and improve the control framework
• Working with QA developers and other stakeholders to summarise risk events and agree any actions needed to improve the control environment and prevent reoccurrence
• Effectively communicate Model Governance outcomes and thematic topics to stakeholders within QA Management and others as required

What We’ Re Looking For

• Relevant work experiences in model risk management
• Extensive knowledge of Empirical Models and broad knowledge of financial products
• A thorough understanding of regulatory guidance on model development best practices (e.g. Fed SR 11-7, PRA SS3/18)

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

• Master’s or equivalent in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, financial engineering or equivalent
• Experience of managing and working with complex projects and delivering to tight deadline
