As a Barclays ALM Risk Manager you will support the analysis and management of interest rate risk in the banking book and other non-traded market risk (NTMR) within the banking book businesses. The role holder will be responsible for certain operational aspects of the ALM Risk function: such as conformance with the Group Policies; conformance with the risk limits; and operate the procedures to adhere to agreed risk appetite.

What will you be doing?

  • Identifying, measuring and managing Interest rate risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), FX risk and other market risks within BUK and BI
  • Providing input into the Treasury ALM risk appetite and risk limit setting process for BUK and BI
  • Identifying & articulating to Risk and Business Executives any relevant risk exposures both current and anticipated that should be receiving attention
  • Reviewing new products from a ALM risk perspective, working closely with Business, Finance and Treasury to ensure that the ALM risks are hedged/managed appropriately
  • Reviewing and challenging of Product and Structural hedging strategies proposed by Treasury
  • Reviewing and challenging of the behavioural assumptions used for hedging ALM risks within BUK and BI
  • Ensuring compliance with Treasury and Capital Risk policies and will be required to review and update the relevant policies and standards in compliance with the Group ERMF
  • Producing and presenting regular and adhoc MI/analysis related to IRRBB, FX and other ALM or market risks to senior management

What We’re Looking For

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills required; role holder will need to work effectively across the bank’s structure with key stakeholders in UK, Europe and the US
  • Educated to Degree level in a quantitative subject or previous relevant equivalent experience
  • Comprehensive Treasury ALM or non-traded market risk experience
  • Knowledge of VaR, EaR (NII sensitivity), EVE and other risk management measures and practices and comprehensive understanding of governance and control frameworks

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • A qualification relevant to the management of risk (specifically but not exclusively market risk)
  • Experience of balance sheet management systems, preferably QRM. Also VBA/SQL experience
  • Good knowledge of Retail, Corporate and Private Banking products including credit cards
  • Understanding of Treasury ALM management and an understanding of ALM and IRRBB specific regulations (e.g. Basel, PRA guidelines on IRRBB)
